We brought my mom home from the hospice home this past Monday. It has been a busy week meeting with the hospice doctor, social worker, nurses, and nursing assistants and getting up to speed on caring for her at home. Her condition has fluxuated quite a bit from day to day with every day bringing different sleepiness, wakefulness, breathing discomfort, confusion levels, and what-have-you. The family has been over a lot. Mom enjoyed a visit from one of "her" dogs yesterday and today. My brother brings over his dachsund - Mom's favorite type of dog. Mom gets to see him (Logan) multiple times during the visit which, I know, makes her very happy.
After a rough breathing night last night she has slept most of the day - in between visits from the nurse and nursing assitant. Family visits have been brief today - just going in to check on her, say Hi or touch her hand, but really just letting her sleep. After only 4.5 - 5 hours of sleep last night, I'm pretty darn ready to hit the hay myself. Good night.
